What I do is save a local copy of the QR codes as I set them up. Still, some users have taken upon themselves to point out some things that could be done better or could become a problem. You should consider Authy instead of Google Authenticator, as you cannot backup your Google Authenticator account. The feature has been already tested by beta testers, moderators, and third-party app developers, and most of the bugs are likely to have been splatted by now. If you lose your phone or otherwise cant get codes by text, call, or Google Authenticator, you can use backup codes to sign in to your Google Account. The option of creating backup codes is also offered, in case users lose their smartphones and therefore can’t enter the required code/second authentication factor on login.
